With the amended anti-doping testing procedure, which came into force on January 1, 2021, the limits for urine specific gravity under the World Anti-Doping Code have changed.

When using a digital refractometer for testing purposes, the urine specific gravity value has to be ≥1.003 if the athlete provides at least 150 mL of urine, or ≥1.005 if the athlete provides at least 90 mL of urine.
